Point to my server

Visitors reach Shield first. Shield checks them, then forwards the real ones to your server. This page covers the one step where you give Shield your server's public address. You have already added your domain and proved you own it.

Back to Set up Shield, the full setup from the first step.

When to use it

  • Your server has a public address Shield can reach
  • A VPS, or a platform like Render, Vercel, Netlify, or Fly with public networking on
  • The simplest route: one address, one check

Not sure? Try it. Shield checks the address and, if it cannot reach your server, the dashboard offers the Shield Tunnel right there.

Step by step

1
Find your server's public address
The IP or hostname where your app actually runs. Not your domain, and not Shield. Examples: 203.0.113.10, myapp.onrender.com.
2
Enter it and go live
On the Point to my server tab, paste that address and press Save and go live.
3
Shield checks it can reach your server
Your site goes live only when that check passes. The dashboard shows you the result and what to do if it did not.
If the check does not pass
Your server is turning Shield away
Your server or platform is refusing Shield. Allow public access on your platform, or add Shield's verification code to your server so it lets Shield in.
Shield could not reach your server
The address is wrong, or your platform blocks a proxy in front of it. Switch to the Shield Tunnel.

After it is live

Shield now serves your visitors. You can lock your server so only Shield can reach it, the Security tab shows a copy-paste snippet, tune protection, or add another site anytime.
